Calque

A word built by translating another language's parts

A calque is a word or expression formed by translating a foreign term piece by piece, also called a loan translation. Moment of truth is a calque of Spanish el momento de la verdad. The word itself comes from French calque (copy), from calquer (to trace), and traces back through Italian and Latin to calx, the heel.
