Burpee Covered Bridge

A 1913 kissing bridge, still posted at 3.1 metres

Burpee Covered Bridge

New Brunswick roofed its river crossings to keep the decks out of the snow, and got something else in the bargain: a stretch of dark long enough that a horse and carriage passed out of view of the entire county. “Kissing bridge” became the ordinary word for them, especially among young couples. This one still carries a dirt road over the Gaspereau, plated 1913 and posted at 3.1 metres and eight tonnes.
