The Bolton Strid

A river narrow enough to step across, with no recorded survivors of a fall

The Bolton Strid

At the Bolton Strid, a stretch of the River Wharfe in Yorkshire, England, the river turns on its side and runs vertically down a rock shaft riddled with hidden underwater voids. It’s narrow enough to step across and looks like an ordinary brook. There are no recorded survivors of a fall into it.
