Shelter Island is the small island wedged between the Hamptons (South Fork) and the North Fork wine country, reachable only by ferry. The Boat House is a modernist single-family rental — water access on three sides, an interior designed around the boat that came with it. Stays of a week or more; the rest of Shelter Island is small farms, two restaurants, and a single store.
