Antipelargy

A word for the care children return to their parents

The prefix promises opposition and delivers the opposite. Antipelargy is the love and care children give back to their parents, from Greek pelargos, stork — a bird the Greeks credited with feeding its own aged parents, and later with carrying them about. The anti- is the one in antiphony: not against, but in return. In English since 1649, and overdue for reuse.
