A grey-and-teal desktop for an ISP that never existed — COMETLINK Online, with COMETLINK Mail, Internet Voyager and Comet Patrol Pinball in the icon column — where connecting means the whole modem handshake at 1996 speed, the connecting dialog, and eventually someone in the house picking up the phone. The sound is the product; the site tells you so before you click anything. Built for showing younger people what the wait felt like, and for anyone who still hears the squeal in their sleep.
